The Women’s Center is a nonprofit counseling center serving the greater Washington, DC area from offices in Vienna, VA and Washington, DC. Despite our name, we serve everyone: women, men, teens, children, and families from all backgrounds. Below are answers to the questions people ask most often before they begin, including what counseling costs, whether we accept your insurance, what services we offer, and how to schedule a first appointment. Do you offer reduced fee or sliding scale therapy services?
Yes, our services are offered on a reduced-fee and sliding-scale basis to ensure that cost is never a barrier to receiving mental health support. Cost ranges from $5 to $61 per session. Your fee is determined during the intake process, and staff work with every client to find the most affordable option.
How do I qualify for sliding-scale or reduced-fee therapy services?

Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept all major insurance carriers, including Medicare and Medicaid. Have your insurance information ready when you schedule your appointment, and staff will help verify your coverage. The Center can also provide receipts and billing statements for out-of-network reimbursement claims.

What is the cost of therapy if I am paying out of pocket?
Self-pay rates vary by provider credentials, service type, and appointment length. Please contact our team if you would like an estimate. If that is not accessible, we also offer reduced-fee or sliding-scale sessions, ranging from $5 to $61. Contact us to see if you qualify.
Do you provide documentation for out-of-network reimbursement?
Yes, we are happy to provide receipts, billing statements, and documentation required by insurance companies to help you submit your out-of-network claims.
What types of counseling services do you offer?
We offer individual, couples, family, teen, group therapy, domestic violence and sexual assault services. Our therapists specialize in areas like anxiety, depression, trauma, family issues, life transitions, grief and loss, phobias, OCD, ADD/ADHD, eating disorders, multicultural issues, maternal mental health, career transitions, among others.
We also provide mediation and financial services, as well as wrap around services such as workshops, webinars, and career counseling.
Do you only serve women?
No, contrary to what our name suggests, we serve ALL community members – men, women, teens, children, people from all backgrounds and walks of life.
Where are you located and what are your hours?
The Women’s Center has two locations: Virginia and DC. In Virginia, we are located in Vienna at 8230 Old Courthouse Rd, Suite 500.
Vienna Office Hours:
- Monday–Thursday: 9:00 AM – 8:00 PM
- Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM
- Saturday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
In DC, we are located at 1025 Vermont Ave, Suite 310.
DC Office Hours:
- Monday–Friday: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Evening appointments available on request)
Do you offer in-person counseling services?
Yes, we offer in-person counseling services in both Vienna and DC locations.
Do you offer virtual or telehealth sessions?
Yes, both our locations offer services either in-person or via telehealth, allowing you to access care in the way that best fits your needs and schedule.
Do you offer weekend or evening appointment times?
Our Vienna location offers Saturday and evening appointment times. Our DC location currently offers evening appointment times, but no Saturday appointments.
Is your location accessible by public transportation or parking?
Both of our locations are accessible by public transportation. Our Vienna office offers ample parking, including accessible spaces. Our DC office is Metro-accessible. Paid garage parking is available; however, the Metro is recommended due to the associated parking costs.
What qualifications do your therapists and clinicians have?
Our team includes 50+ clinicians, such as:
- Licensed Professional Counselors (LPC)
- Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW/LICSW)
- Psychologists (PhD/PsyD)
Our therapists are trained in trauma-informed and culturally appropriate therapeutic approaches.
Do you provide trauma-informed counseling?
Yes, our therapists are trained in trauma-informed care, and we have 50+ therapists experienced in treating trauma and related concerns.
Do you have bilingual or culturally responsive therapists?
Our therapists are culturally responsive. We have some therapists that are bilingual in Spanish and other languages. Please contact us to learn more.

How do I make my first appointment at The Women's Center?
Appointments can be made by contacting our Client Support team by calling or texting (571) 385-1625 in Virginia and calling (202) 293-4580 in DC. Our team will guide you through the intake process, discuss financial/insurance details, and match you with an appropriate therapist.
What should I expect at my first therapy session?

Do I need a referral to begin counseling?
No, referral is not required. You may contact us directly to begin services.
Do you provide short-term and long-term therapy options?
Yes, we offer both short-term and long-term therapy options. The duration is based on mutually agreed treatment goals between therapist and client.
What other services do you offer?
Beyond counseling, we offer a full range of domestic violence and sexual assault services, including information and referrals, court accompaniment, and crisis intervention. We also provide mediation and financial services to help you navigate your journey.
