Masters in Social Work Externship

The Women’s Center offers Clinical Social Work externships to students of any gender who are enrolled in master’s degree programs in social work. The training generally takes place in the Vienna, VA office. Practicum students are accepted ONLY if they have previous experience working with individuals.
The externship requires 16-20 hours per week.
Individual supervision is provided by a licensed clinical social worker.
The program includes the following:
- Orientation
- Minimum of eight to ten hours of psychotherapy per week (Externs)
- Mandatory weekly seminar and group supervision from 1-3 every Wednesday.
- Group and/or workshop co-leadership, when available
- Weekly supervision group lead by LPC
