Top CEOs have “IT,” CIOs have “IT,” and so do many actors and actresses. So, what is “IT,” and why does “IT” matter? In business, there are people who immediately separate from others and have an air of competence and self-assurance. These qualities, plus others, are what propelled these people to reach the highest positions within an organization. They make up what is known as professional presence.
Exhibiting professional presence, once acquired, increases one’s chance for promotion, respect from peers, and accomplish more work. Without “IT,” achieving a high-level position within an organization is dubious.

About the Presenter
Vera Teller, Ph.D. is coach, lecturer, and author. She was on staff at California State University Dominguez Hills in the College of Business Administration and Public Policy and received the 2019 Catherine H. Jacobs Outstanding Faculty-Lecturer Award
Her professional career spans over 25 years’ experience in business, management, and information systems as Director of Systems and Programming for Safeway (Vons) and Trader Joe’s, consultant for EDS, and Program Manager for WellPoint.
She has presented at many conferences including the Project Management Institute chapter conferences, Business Analysts conference, Los Angeles Quality Assurance conference, and Chinese American IT conference on societal factors that created barriers to women advancing in the work- place.
Vera served on the Executive Committee as Secretary for Women At Work; a non-profit organization helping all people reach their full employment and earnings potential.
