Cheers to New Beginnings
September 10th, 2024, marked a momentous occasion for The Women’s Center as we celebrated the opening of our new Northern Virginia office with a ceremonial ribbon-cutting, open house, and commemoration ceremony. In addition to staff from The Women’s Center, over 100 people attended the event, including board members, prominent business leaders, elected officials, community partners (schools, civic groups, aligned non-profits), and long-time donors and supporters of The Women’s Center.
“The Center empowers not just women, but everyone in the community, to live healthy, stable, and productive lives. SAIC is honored to be a sponsor of its 50th-year mission – to stand alongside an organization making such a profound difference. The Center’s work is not just inspiring—it’s essential,” shared Hilary Hageman, Executive Vice President, General Counsel, and Corporate Secretary of SAIC, who also serves on our Board of Directors.
The new office, located at 8230 Old Courthouse Road in Vienna, Virginia, replaces the former Vienna Courts/Park Street location. Although the office move was merely two miles distance-wise, the new location will provide a much more modern (completely renovated and customized space), convenient (closer to the metro), and offers a more collaborative layout and more meeting rooms for individual and group therapy sessions. The new office location houses 16 therapy rooms, including individual, group, and children/play therapy spaces. The new office space is trauma-informed, including white noise machines outside each of the therapy rooms for additional privacy.
Particularly because this new office location coincides with The Women’s Center’s 50th anniversary, and because these changes coupled with a recently refreshed brand identity (including a new logo, company color palette, and marketing materials), the Open House event felt like an extra-festive event. The new location and office environment feel like an extension of our refreshed brand and tangible representation of The Center’s growth and values.
“The move aligned with our strategic direction and goals. We recognized that this change was necessary to better serve our community and to position The Women’s Center for the future. We didn’t do this alone. We had the unwavering support of our community. Our hearts are full of gratitude towards Fairfax County, the Philip Graham Foundation, the McLean Community Foundation, and many generous donors. From beginning to end, our space was thoughtfully designed with our clients and staff in mind,” said our CEO Rachna Krishnan, speaking during the program.
But, more than anything, the new office space and location will allow The Center to make an even greater impact, by providing more therapy rooms and the updated space resources that will support The Center’s work for years to come. And that truly makes the new office something to celebrate.
Note: All services and programs offered by The Women’s Center’s former Vienna location remain unchanged and The Women’s Center’s Washington, DC location remains the same.
