What to Expect At Your First Appointment
We are pleased that you have chosen to take advantage of the excellent counseling services offered here at The Women’s Center.
At your first appointment, please check in at the front desk. We recommend providing your email address to our Intake staff at the time of booking your appointment, which will allow you to create a Patient Portal account and complete your paperwork in advance. If you are unable to complete forms via the Patient Portal, you may complete new client paperwork in person when you check in for your appointment. All clients must complete their paperwork prior to being seen by a clinician.
Your therapist will greet you in the waiting room and escort you to a private therapy room. They will review at that time information regarding the policies and procedures of The Center and will orient you to the therapeutic process in general.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
We understand that taking the first step toward care can feel overwhelming. Whether you’re feeling anxious, uncertain, or simply curious, you are not alone—and your feelings are completely valid. This FAQ section is designed to answer common questions and ease any concerns you might have before your first visit. Our goal is to help you feel informed, empowered, and welcomed from the moment you walk through our doors.
If you haven’t already provided a picture of your insurance card (front and back) or completed the consent and acknowledgment forms, the front desk will request those items.
We recommend arriving 5 to 10 minutes before your appointment. If possible, please complete your forms through the patient portal in advance. If you’re unable to do so online, we ask that you arrive at least 15 minutes early to complete the paperwork in person.
During the first appointment, your therapist will review your forms with you and conduct what is called an intake. The intake helps the therapist understand what brings you to therapy, your psychological and medical history, and your goals for treatment.
Unless prior arrangements are made with your therapist, sessions are typically 53-55 minutes.
If you don’t feel a connection after a few sessions, we encourage you to talk to your therapist so they can help you connect with another therapist.
