Free Counseling for Domestic Violence Survivors in DC
Domestic violence can leave lasting emotional scars, but survivors do not have to face their healing journey alone. At The Women’s Center in Washington, D.C., we offer free crisis and long-term counseling to individuals who have experienced domestic abuse or sexual assault. Funded by the Mayor’s Office of Victim Services Justice Grants, these services ensure that survivors receive the care they need, regardless of their financial situation.
Understanding that healing looks different for everyone, The Women’s Center provides flexible therapeutic options tailored to each client’s needs. Those in immediate crisis can be seen right away for a one-time emergency session, while others can participate in long-term therapy with no limits on the number of sessions. Whether in-person or through virtual sessions, survivors can count on receiving compassionate, professional care at no cost.
With the guidance of our experienced therapists, survivors can work toward breaking cycles of abuse and regaining control over their lives. Research shows that therapy not only helps individuals heal emotionally but reduces the likelihood of experiencing future abuse by empowering survivors with knowledge and resilience tools.
To qualify for services, individuals must either be residents in Washington, D.C. or have experienced abuse or assault within the District. The abuse does not have to be recent—survivors from any stage of their journey are welcome.
