Profiles in Giving Back: Sandy Gillespie

Sandy1Title: Senior Vice President of Health and Compliance Programs, CGI

Why The Women’s Center? It is an honor to partner with The Women’s Center; whose vital work over the past 40 years, supplying subsidized and free community care, has kept so many from falling through the cracks. Despite a multi-billion dollar budget for mental health care delivery in the US, there is still not enough affordable and coordinated care to serve all who need it. The lack of affordable resources and solutions to improve outcomes for individuals dealing with mental illness and domestic violence has a negative ripple-effect impact on families, friends and the surrounding community. The importance of their work cannot be understated.

Which kind of supporter are you? “Reaching Forward” or “Giving Back”? Why? I would say our support is “Reaching Forward”, as we are focused on how to pave the way for a better tomorrow. CGI believes that great partnerships help to build great communities and we are committed to improving the lives of our employees, clients, communities and nation, through the use of technology as a force multiplier for better information and access to care. “Big Change” will come only through shared leadership and the power of communities aligning their efforts. We are proud to align with this great organization driving change through education, prevention, and providing our community’s men, women and children a path towards wellness.

When you give back to your community, what do you hope to see as a result? There are many things I hope for as a result of giving back; a few which include: immediate aid to those in need, sustainability of great community organizations like The Women’s Center, increased awareness and diminished stigma around challenging issues like mental health, and possibly even inspiration to other service-minded leaders in the business community. It’s important to roll up your sleeves and get involved in serving your industry and community through partnerships that stretch beyond your day job. We need all hands on deck to finding a better path forward, together.
