SUMMARY:Tips to Building Self-Esteem
DESCRIPTION:Self-esteem = how much we like ourselves. \nHow much we like ourselves = our ability to get ourselves to actually do\, what we want ourselves to do; in other words\, self-discipline and self-trust. \nCan you recall the last time you were in an emotional slump\, that your beliefs in yourself and your abilities were slipping away? How can we maintain the beliefs we have in ourselves\, so that we can live with less anxiety and more joy? \nJust imagine the things we would accomplish if we had the belief that we could do absolutely anything\, especially if we could maintain a level of self-esteem that no circumstance could shake. What would you be doing? \nSelf-esteem comes from positive self-imaging\, and it is something that we proactively build for ourselves. Self-esteem doesn’t happen while we wait passively. What we want is a rock-solid foundation\, and this only comes from building it within. \nI’ve learned that the way we view ourselves directly affects everything we do. Let’s start building or “enhancing” our self-esteem with 13 tips! \nAbout the Presenter \nVera Teller\, Ph.D. is coach\, lecturer\, and author. She was on staff at California State University Dominguez Hills in the College of Business Administration and Public Policy and received the 2019 Catherine H. Jacobs Outstanding Faculty-Lecturer Award \nHer professional career spans over 25 years’ experience in business\, management\, and information systems as Director of Systems and Programming for Safeway (Vons) and Trader Joe’s\, consultant for EDS\, and Program Manager for WellPoint. \nShe has presented at many conferences including the Project Management Institute chapter conferences\, Business Analysts conference\, Los Angeles Quality Assurance conference\, and Chinese American IT conference on societal factors that created barriers to women advancing in the work- place. \nVera served on the Executive Committee as Secretary for Women At Work; a non-profit organization helping all people reach their full employment and earnings potential. \nContact Vera directly at verateller@yahoo.com \nPLEASE NOTE: WORKSHOP IS IN PERSON AT THE WOMENS CENTER IN VIENNA\, VA
