SUMMARY:Easing into Retirement
DESCRIPTION:This workshop is geared for individuals who are contemplating retiring and who may be a bit afraid of retiring. It’s about taking the first steps. And second steps for those that have retired and are stuck\, perhaps even bored. It’s about building quality and joy into retirement. The session will offer tips\, ideas\, and exercises from first-hand experience\, interviews with retirees\, and several books written by experts. You will explore creating your own guidelines and finding your retirement style. \nWhile financial planning is a critical step to a happy retirement\, this workshop does NOT address retirement investment strategies. \nAs this is during dinner\, please feel free to bring your food and drink. \nAbout the Presenter \nRebecca Holderness recently retired after 40+ years in leadership roles in business development\, trade shows\, and marketing at SAIC and Leidos. Fearing retirement\, Rebecca kept postponing the date (by four years!) until both a pending company reorganization and a health challenge made her rethink the timing. Once she took the retirement plunge\, she wondered why she’d waited so long! While volunteering and facilitating workshops for The Women’s Center\, Rebecca offered to create a new group session designed to help others who may be timid of taking the plunge or who may not be feeling fulfilled in their retirement. \nPLEASE NOTE: WORKSHOP IS IN PERSON AT THE WOMENS CENTER IN VIENNA\, VA

SUMMARY:Chair Yoga: Movement for Every Body
DESCRIPTION:Chair yoga offers all the wonderful physical\, mental\, and spiritual benefits of traditional yoga in a gentle\, accessible way. It helps maintain muscle strength\, improve flexibility and joint stability\, and ease pain and stiffness. \nSeated comfortably in a chair\, students practice twists\, hip stretches\, forward folds\, and gentle backbends that are adapted to meet every body where they are. Each session supports better balance\, improved concentration\, increased confidence\, and a greater sense of calm and vitality. \nWhether you are new to yoga or looking for a supportive practice\, chair yoga provides a welcoming space to move\, breathe\, and nurture your overall well-being. \nPlease dress comfortably for movement. \nAbout the Presenter \nRuta Aidis first stepped onto the mat in 2002 and was immediately drawn to the grounding and restorative power of yoga. What began as a simple practice became a steady anchor in her life\, alongside a deep connection to meditation and mindful living. \nOver the years\, Ruta has practiced with teachers around the world\, returning to yoga to restore balance\, strengthen body and mind\, and practice self compassion in the present moment. In 2025\, she completed her RYT-200 training at Beloved Yoga in Reston\, Virginia. \nIn her classes\, Ruta creates a welcoming space where students are encouraged to listen inward\, move at their own pace\, and discover moments of ease and inner clarity. She continues to deepen her practice and feels grateful to support others on their yoga journey. \nPLEASE NOTE: WORKSHOP IS IN PERSON AT THE WOMENS CENTER IN VIENNA\, VA
