Many mothers may experience exhaustion\, mood changes\, anxiety\, or feeling “not like themselves” after birth. This session is designed especially for new and expecting mothers who want to better understand what’s happening in their bodies and minds after having a baby. \nTogether\, we’ll explore: \n\nWhy emotions can feel stronger after birth\nWhat “baby blues” are-and how they differ from postpartum depression and anxiety\nHow stress\, hormones\, and lack of sleep affect your nervous system\nWhat it means to be outside your “window of tolerance”\nGentle\, realistic tools to calm your body and mind\nWhen to reach out for extra support\n\nThis will be a compassionate\, judgment-free space where real experiences are normalized. You will walk away with simple strategies you can use in everyday moments-tools that take just a few minutes but can make a meaningful difference. \nMotherhood is a season of learning. DESCRIPTION:For over 34 years\, Attorney and Mediator Patti Philipse has focused exclusively on negotiating and mediating out-of-court divorce\, custody\, and support settlements. \nIn this program\, Patti: \n\nProvides practical information on how to establish a separation and process a divorce.\nDescribes and compares different methods of reaching an out-of-court settlement using mediation\, negotiation and/or collaboration techniques.\nOffers strategies that will allow you to effectively prepare for your settlement discussions.\nProvides tips and recommendations to keep your settlement discussions productive and efficient.\nPlease note that one section of this program (total 6 sections) is Virginia-specific and not applicable to DC or MD residents.\n\nThings to know: \n\nRegister early\nA minimum of 5 participants is required for workshop. SUMMARY:Know Your Rights
DESCRIPTION:This presentation provides an overview of workplace rights for employees who are pregnant\, postpartum or lactating in the DMV area. The session will cover common accommodations\, how to request them\, what employers are legally required to do\, and steps employees can take if their rights are violated. \nTime will be allotted for questions and practical examples to help participants better understand how these protections apply in real world situations. \nIf you are a worker\, advocate\, and community member this will provide clear\, accessible information about employment rights in the DMV.” \nAbout the Presenter \nConnor Rennels is the Virginia Outreach Coordinator for First Shift Justice Project. In this position\, Connor works to maintain and cultivate new relationships in the Virginia area. Prior to working at First Shift\, he earned an interdisciplinary studies degree at Hendrix College\, focusing on the intersection between political science and religious studies.
